He does not say so, but the entire staff can feel it. Although the great host of angels is practised in touching human hearts with divine love, the situation on Earth is slipping from their grasp. Lou, the Dark One himself, service number double-oh-one and until now merely a heavenly rumour, appears to be winning the game below.

Chris, angel double-oh-two and licensed to act on his own initiative, concludes that love on Earth has only one chance left: Lou must be brought down, and quickly. But ever since Lou received his secret assignment from the highest authority, no one has seen him – not even God.

So Chris and his colleagues decide to find the renegade Lou on their own. The hope of the entire heavenly host rests on Chris and the seven double-ohs. Yet Lou is a formidable opponent with magical powers – and he has been working undercover for thousands of years.
