Sweetwater

Science journalist Caleb Brooks is asked to write a Valentine’s Day piece for the New York Times. In his research he comes across the legend of Sweetwater, a small town in the Midwest that, strangely, appears on no map. Visiting the place, Caleb discovers that its inhabitants are trying to hide a secret.

He meets the bookseller Carol Ryder. From the first moment of their encounter they recognise each other, although they have never met. A deep love sweeps them along like a wave, and Caleb makes a decision that will change his life. But fate has a different destiny in mind for them both.

Meanwhile, in Paris, a seemingly insignificant old book is auctioned for an extraordinary sum. That long-lost work, and Arch Pinenoire, a man surrounded by a mysterious aura, appear to hold the key to the secret of Sweetwater.

Searching for the cause behind these fateful events, Caleb is thrown ever deeper into an inner nightmare. Reality seems to respond directly to his deepest longings and convictions. What would happen if he were willing to hold the impossible to be possible?
